Angelo “Mario” Taraborrelli
• Born in Italy in 1948; married with two children
• He received a degree in International Law “cum laude” in 1971 and a master degree in Oil Economics from the Eni “Scuola Superiore Enrico Mattei” in 1973
• In 1973 he was hired in the Planning Dept. of Eni, in charge of the oil market analysis and analysis and control of the capital expenditures of the company in the oil business
• From 1978 to 1980, he was Exec. Assistant to the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Agip, the upstream oil branch of the Eni Group
• From 1980 to 1983, he was Exec. Assistant to the C.E.O. of AgipNucleare, a company of the Eni Group involved in the Nuclear business
• From 1983 to 1988 he was Head of the Latin America and West Africa Desk in the Crude Oil Trading Dept. of Agip
• From 1988 to 1992, he moved back to Corporate in the Finance Dept., in charge of the Consolidated Annual Report
• In 1992, he moved to Saipem, a company of the Eni Group, operating in the Drilling and Onshore-Offshore Construction business; in this company, he was Vice Pres. Planning and Control and Investor Relations
• In 1996 he moved back to Corporate where he was appointed Senior Vice Pres. Strategic Control of the all business of Eni with a particular focus on the strategy of the Company, the capital allocation and the most relevant investment project
• In 2001 he was appointed Dep. Chairman of SnamProgetti, a company of the Eni Group operating in the field of Engineering & Construction for the Oil & Gas industry
• In 2002 he was appointed Managing Director in charge of Marketing activities of AgipPetroli, a company of the Eni Group operating in the field of Refining & Marketing
• In 2004, he was appointed CEO of the Refining & Marketing Division of Eni, with the full responsibility of the management of the business in Italy and abroad. In this position, and among other things, he carried out a strategic turn-around program involving all the business lines of the Eni downstream oil sector aimed at achieving a 30% improvement of the financial performance; in addition to that he managed very important portfolio operations such as the sale of the IP Retail network, the sale of all the commercial business in Brasil, the acquisition of the commercial business of Exxon in Central Europe, the acquisition of the Shell distribution assets in Southern Germany, and the completion of the sale of the Priolo Refinery to ERG
• Up to Sept. 2007 he was Dep. Chairman of the Italian Oil Industry Association, Member of the Board of Galp, the Portuguese oil company, Chairman of Eni Trading & Shipping, Member of the Board of Eni Foundation and Member of the Executive Committee of Eni
• In Sept. 2007 he was appointed CEO and COO of Syndial, a company of the Eni Group involved in the chemical business and environmental operations
• In September 2009 he left Eni
• In February 2010 he was appointed Distinguished Associate of Energy Market Consultants (EMC, now FGE), an outstanding consultancy firm in oil industry
• In May 2011 he was appointed Member of the Board of Enel SpA, a multinational Italian company involved in the Electricity & Gas business, and member of the Internal Control and Risks Committee and member of the Corporate Governance Committee
• In May 2014 he was confirmed Member of the Board of Enel SpA, and he was appointed Chairman of the Internal Control and Risks Committee and Member of the Related Parties Committee
• From May 2017 to May 2020 he was confirmed Member of the Board of Enel SpA and Chairman of the Internal Control and Risks Committee and Member of the Corporate Governance Committee
• Since Sept. 2015 he is Contract Professor of Energy and Climate Change Policy at the L.U.I.S.S. “Guido Carli” University in Rome, Italy
