Curriculum
José-Carlos Mariátegui is a scholar and curator on art, culture, and technology. He holds both Masters and Doctoral degrees in Information Systems and Innovation from the London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE (London), prior to this, he studied Applied Mathematics and Biology. Dr. Mariátegui is the founder of Alta Tecnología Andina – ATA an institution founded in 1995 devoted to creativity, technology and innovation in Latin America. He is also the General Director of the Image Centre School in Lima, where he also leads the Department for Research and Innovation. He is an Editorial Board member for Leonardo Books at MIT Press, Advisory Board member for AI & Society and Board Member of Future Everything (UK), a member of the Curatorial Committee at the Art Museum of Lima - MALI (Peru) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts - RSA (UK). Has published in journals such as Third Text, The Information Society, Telos and Leonardo and worked on projects on art, science and technology for more than two decades. His latest exhibition Broken Symmetries/Cuántica (co-curated with Monica Bello), explores the ways in which artists and scientists are interacting together at CERN (touring internationally in Liverpool, Barcelona, Brussels and Taichung). His projects had been reviewed in Financial Times, New Scientist and The New York Times.
