He gave lectures at Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing de São Paulo; Universidade Tuiuti de Paranà; Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo; Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro.
He is Deputy General Secretary of FedRoS (Romance Federation of Semiotics).
He is member of the International Association for Semiotic Studies (IASS), the Italian Association for Semiotic Studies (AISS), the Federation of Romance Semiotics (FEDROS), the Italian Society of philosophy of Language (SFL).
He has been awarded the “Luiss Teaching Excellence” award for being the best teacher of the Master Course in Marketing in the Department of Business and Management for the academic year 2019/2020.
On March 21, 2017 he was appointed by Pope Francis a Consultant to the Dicastery of Communication (Holy See).
His scientific interests are related to semiotic theory, and specifically to a sociosemiotics dedicated to the analysis of the correlation between contemporary media culture and consumption.
The first stream of research focuses on new advertising trends, with particular reference to unconventional social advertising. The second one concerns the analysis of the dynamics of formation of reputation and influence in social media, with the aim of contributing to a critical perspective on virality. The last one concerns the deepening of the relationship between Bruno Latour's work and the theory of signification, starting from a critical re-reading of all the works in which the French scholar employs theoretical notions elaborated in semiotics, while contributing to rethink their characteristics and application.
Paolo Peverini has single-authored and co-authored seven books, among which: (Alla ricerca del senso. Bruno Latour in dialogo con la semiotica, Roma: Nuova Cultura 2019; Social guerrilla. Semiotica della comunicazione non convenzionale. Roma: Luiss University Press 2014; I media. Strumenti di analisi semiotica. Roma: Carocci 2012; Unconventional.
